The win over the Rangers at Hampden Park was the confidence booster that Celtic needed in many ways. It booked their place in the Scottish League Cup final. But even more importantly, it showed that this side is capable of getting results in big games while also playing positive football. That had not happened in a while when Brendan Rodgers was manager of the Hoops.

It is time to look forward though. Celtic cannot afford to dwell too long about the past, whether it be Rodgers' second stint or their win over the Rangers on Sunday. At Parkhead, time moves fast and it is always about what lies ahead.

Unfortunately for Celtic, they will be without their best defender for a good while. Cameron Carter-Vickers was injured the last time they took to the pitch in the UEFA Europa League, which was the 2-1 against Sturm Graz.

In the aftermath, Rodgers had suggested that Carter-Vickers would be out for three to five months. But some media outlets have claimed that the absence could be even longer. We can only wish him the best in his recovery. On the other hand, the American international has been replaced in the club's UEFA squad.

One of the goalscorers against the Rangers was Callum Osmand. He came off the bench and gave the opposition a lot of headaches. He scored once and came close on other occasions as well.

It is remarkable that he struggled to get a look in when Rodgers was manager. Now, the club have announced that Osmand has replaced Carter-Vickers on their UEFA player list following the defender's unfortunate long-term injury.

This feels like the right decision on the part of Celtic. Osmand certainly has a bit about him and deserves more chances.
