It is very clear that Celtic fans want to see Wilfried Nancy sacked after what has been a horrendous start as the club's manager. The Frenchman has lost all four games since taking charge of the team. In the process, he has cost the Hoops the Scottish League Cup, weakened their position in the Europa League and undone all the good work by Martin O'Neill in the Premiership.

Many might feel that two weeks is too early to make a judgment on a manager. But sometimes, it might be.

Nancy has looked completely out of his depth since taking the job. On top of that, his comments suggest that he does not have a good understanding of how to navigate the Scottish media either. He has come off as arrogant and alienated the fanbase rather than bring them together.

Now, the unfortunate reality of the situation is that it does not matter what the majority of the fanbase wants. It is the board that will decide what happens with Nancy and they are unlikely to give up this early, because that would be admitting that they got this appointment completely wrong.

In fact, it has been suggested that Dermot Desmond might end up doing the opposite of what the fans want. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Keith Jackson said on Hotline Live:

"No, I just don’t believe it. I’ve seen this before, and that’s part of the reason I feel this way. When fans make demands of Dermot Desmond, he doesn’t respond well to that sort of pressure.

“He doesn’t respond well to attempts to browbeat him into doing things. From my experience, his approach would suggest he is more likely to go the other way entirely. I don’t know if that’s because he’s a billionaire who doesn’t like being told what to do, but that is the way he leads.

“And as I said, I don’t think the results going into January are going to be the overriding factor here. I think a decision has already been made.

“They’ve got their man, they’re going to give him January, and then keep their fingers crossed that everything starts to fall into place."

Celtic fans might not like that view of things, but it is hard to disagree with. When was the last time that the board did something just because the fanbase wanted it?

The last time we found ourselves in somewhat of a similar situation was in the 20/21 campaign, when the supporters wanted Neil Lennon to be shown the exit door. He was never sacked though, and eventually ended up resigning.
