Five games, zero wins, four draws, one loss and 10th in the Scottish Premiership table. That is what it looks like for the Rangers right now. What a start to the Russell Martin era they have had. If Celtic win against Kilmarnock this weekend, they will go nine points clear of them in mid-September. And to be very honest, that draw at Ibrox is starting to look like a bad result.

Of course, the Rangers should be used to changing managers by now. They have sacked one in the middle of the season three consecutive times. And if they do the same with Martin, it would be the fourth.

Never have they found themselves in this situation in September though. Guess there is a first time for everything.

One thing is pretty clear though. Martin is not thinking about resigning. As reported by the Heart & Hand podcast, when asked if he would resign, the Rangers manager replied:

"No.

‘I will keep working till I am told not to."

Of course, that will be music to the ears of the Celtic supporters. Having seen what the Rangers look like under his management, they would want to see him remain in the Ibrox hot seat for years to come. That is unlikely though, and it is already starting to feel inevitable that he will be shown the exit door.

Will it be this weekend? We do not know. But perhaps not. Of course, parting ways with him would mean extra expenditure for the club, who have already shelled out quite a bit on transfers this summer. So, they might decide to stick with things for a little while longer in hopes that they will change.

As for Celtic, they have their own problems right now and cannot afford to dwell on what is going on at Ibrox. They must win this weekend.
