It would be safe to say that Kelechi Iheanacho would not have been Celtic fans' first-choice if they were asked to name their dream target at striker heading into the summer transfer window. He might not even have been the hundredth. But that being said, we are not having to look into the positives after how things have turned out. And there are two positives that one needs to mention amid all the negatives.

Celtic announced that they had signed Iheanacho late last night. This was after some fears had been raised that other clubs were interested as well and this was another move that could collapse, just like the one for Kasper Dolberg on deadline day.

The first thing that Celtic fans will like is the fact that the announcement was made at around 10 pm. Supposedly, there was a 11 pm UEFA deadline to register the squad for the Europa League. So, the Hoops should have gotten it done in time to include the Nigerian striker. That has to go down as a positive.

The second is the fact that Iheanacho has not been handed a long-term contract. He has been given a one-year deal with the club having an option for another year, even though he is just 28 years of age.

We saw Celtic make a major mistake not too long ago when they handed James McCarthy a four-year deal. It is good to see that they have learned from that error and adjusted.

Now, it remains to be seen how things go for Iheanacho. To be honest, not many Celtic fans would have been happy when the rumours first emerged about the club trying to sign him.

That being said, he is now a Celtic player and probably the leading striker until at least January. So, we can only wish him the best and hope that he has a fantastic time in Scottish football.
