Celtic returned to winning ways in style with a 5-1 win over Kilmarnock. It was just not the three points either, but the manner in which the Hoops got it. It felt as if the players had read all the criticism that had come their way over the last few weeks and decided to take it personally. There were a couple of goal of the season contenders in the first half itself.

One player who also deserves credit for his performance on the day is Greg Taylor. With his contract set to run out, the left-back is the first player who should be mentally checked out this season.

Instead, he put in an excellent performance against his former side. And now, there are calls for the club to somehow extend his contract. It looks like Brendan Rodgers has not given up either when it comes to Taylor's future at Parkhead.

While speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Rodgers did not rule out the possibility of Taylor signing an extension. As reported by CeltsAreHere, he said:

"Well, I’ll always fight to the very end for a player and a person like Greg. Of course, he’s earned the right to make the decision he wants, but I think you see in the performance today that how important someone in that role is for us, because it opens up so much and he plays like a midfield player for us.

“So, yes, we’ll always try to convince, but we’ll see what happens come the end of the season."

Let's see what the future holds for Taylor. But it is safe to say that he has often not gotten the credit that he deserves for the job that he has done at left-back for Celtic over the years, since arriving in the summer of 2019 from Kilmarnock.

Incidentally, back then, he was brought in as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney. In the summer, the left-back will be returning from Arsenal as a free agent while Taylor looks set to leave.

It feels like the completion of a cycle in both of their careers. That being said, with Dinamo Zagreb sacking their manager recently, their could be another twist in the tale.
