It's exciting, isn't it? Celtic could sign up to six players today, on what is effectively their transfer deadline day due to the UEFA squad registration window ending at 11pm.
The Bhoys are likely going to be the busiest club in the country, including tomorrow, as they look to bring in up to six new players, and that does not account for the Tuesday signing of Oliver Sorensen.
Such transfer movement can get fans excited in a hurry, and that's natural, but Celtic fans would do well to remember that it didn't have to be like this.
Celtic are covering for recruitment failures
Celtic's late scramble for signings is little more than a desperate cover-up for their shortcomings when it comes to executing a clear and efficient transfer strategy.
The truth of it is that, of the six players expected to join Celtic today, only Gvidas Gineitis is a long term target that they are hoping to get over the line.
This is not an indictment of the players, and we are hoping for nothing but success for the players being signed, but Celtic are going into the Europa League with an 18-year-old new signing as their main back-up for Kieran Tierney at left-back. You cannot tell us that was the plan all along, and that Marcelo Saracchi wasn't a better option at just £1.5million.
Celtic knew they would sell Arne Engels this summer. There were no questions about it, not like there were for the departure of Reo Hatate, which was uncertain until right up to the end of the English window.
There was absolutely no excuse for the Bhoys to not have a replacement for Engels in place for the Champions League qualifiers, and their failure to do so cost them Champions League football.
The lack of strength and experience outside of Callum McGregor was the sole cause of the collapse in that game. Even when you make so many individual mistakes, having someone who can control the rhythm of the game and carry the ball prevents a collapse on that scale.
Celtic had a couple of months to find that player, but won't get one until the very last minute, assuming they do get Gineitis.
They knew they needed a goalkeeper for months but have waited, and the same goes for the left-back signing. Some quality business has been done, no doubt. Camilo Duran looks to be a brilliant signing, and there are encouraging signs from Kasper Hogh, Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur.
But this late rush could have been avoided, just like the Champions League collapse could have been avoided. Quantity is now covering up for an inefficient transfer strategy for a club of this size, and that shouldn't be forgotten amid the rush of excitement from all of these new players.
