When an American consortium involving the 49ers Enterprises completed a Rangers takeover this summer, their fans must have been hoping that that would mean high-profile moves from the club in an attempt to catch up with Celtic. Well, they were linked with Jose Mourinho but ended up appointing Russell Martin as manager. And so far, they have mostly completed and been linked with loan and free agent signings.
So, it looks like the Rangers are waiting for a big-money exit before making their moves this summer. And recently, rumours had broken out that a deal had been agreed with Lille for Hamza Igamane.
Now, though, it appears that that rumour was wide of the mark. In fact, Lille have not even made an offer for the Rangers forward.
We now have a Rangers update that Celtic fans will enjoy. As reported by Anthony Joseph, there is still no official bid from Lille for Igamane.

It remains to be seen if Lille do end up making an official offer for Igamane at some point this summer. There clearly appears to be some level of interest on the part of the French club. But one cannot overlook the fact that they have recently gotten a deal over the line for Oliver Giroud.
Giroud was at LAFC recently but he is set to join Lille in a one-plus-one-year deal. Would he make the move if he was not given some guarantees over his playing time? Probably not. And that being said, would the club then go out and try to sign another striker?
That does feel unlikely as well. Never say never in football though. One thing we can say is that Celtic do not need to waste too much of their time thinking about the goings-on at Ibrox. They have plenty on their own plate this summer already.
