It has been reported that Celtic recently turned down a bid from Bolton Wanderers for Johnny Kenny. The striker returned to Parkhead in the winter after an excellent loan spell at Shamrock Rovers but playing time was extremely limited for him in the second half of the season at Parkhead. As a result, the expectation has been that he will spend another temporary spell away in order to gain experience and develop his game further.
Bolton Wanderers' interest in the player might cause a twist in the tale though. Now, it looks like Celtic might be open to Kenny's exit if the right offer arrives on their table.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic want £1 million for Kenny as Bolton Wanderers try to sign the striker. The club will let him depart if the right offer arrives and Brendan Rodgers finds a replacement.
The English club's first offer was believed to be in the region of £500,000. It looks like Celtic want Bolton Wanderers to double that figure if they are to consider Kenny's departure this summer.
Celtic fans left stunned by club's Johnny Kenny asking price
Interestingly, Celtic might have already found themselves Kenny's replacement. They are believed to be on the verge of signing Callum Osmand from Fulham, with the Welsh youth international's contract running down. The Hoops will only need to pay a developmental fee.
Kenny is a very good talent, there is no doubt about that. And it might be a bit too early for Celtic to part ways with him. After all, he has shown a ton of potential away on loan.
That being said, one cannot overlook the fact that chances for him are going to be limited at Celtic. So, if he wants to leave in search of playing time, it might be best to respect his wish.
