Benjamin Nygren is a name that has been doing the rounds of the Celtic transfer rumour mill in recent days. It has been suggested that talks are already open with the Swedish international's representatives and if a move can be agreed with them, the club will then start negotiations with Nordsjaelland over a transfer fee.

Nygren's contract is believed to be running out in the winter. So, Celtic can wait just six months and sign the Swedish international as a free agent when his deal expires.

But with Jota out injured and Nicolas Kuhn being linked with a move away, Celtic cannot afford to wait. The good news is, it looks like Nygren is available for a very reasonable fee considering his pedigree and age.

As reported by Tipsbladet, the asking transfer fee of Nygren is around 15 million kroner for a move here and now. That is the equivalent of £1.7 million.

That feels like a bargain for a player who is coming off an excellent season. Nygren has scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists for Nordsjaelland in 32 appearances. He has proven his mettle at the international level too, scoring twice in four games for the Swedish national team.

So, if Celtic can sign Nygren for a fee around £1.7 million, it would have to go down as a major coup. Of course, whether he is able to adjust to the Scottish game or not is a different discussion altogether.

For now, it feel like Celtic should make a move for Nygren as soon as possible. Interest seems to be growing as well, with FC Copenhagen, clubs in Germany and the MLS also believed to be keeping an eye on the 23-year-old Swedish international, who can play multiple positions.
