Ange Postecoglou has the type of charisma that you can't replicate. Celtic fans know that well, having seen him take a squad that had finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the league and guide them to five trophies in two seasons, even while seeing the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Kris Ajer, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie leave.
Postecoglou is a special manager. It is his self-belief that allowed him to predict winning in his second season with Tottenham Hotspur and then going on to deliver the Europa League, ending the club's 17-year wait for a title.
In the celebrations that followed, Postecoglou promised an even better season three. Yet, it looks like he is not going the chance to deliver on his word this time around.
As reported by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have decided to sack Postecoglou. The club chiefs have been waiting for the emotions of the Europa League triumph to dissipate.
Celtic fans left stunned by Ange Postecoglou sack news
It remains to be seen if this information turns out to be accurate or not. If it is, then it would come as a major surprise, having seen the atmosphere around Tottenham Hotspur since that Europa League win. It also secured them a spot in the Champions League.
Of course, there is a section of Tottenham Hotspur fans who would be quite happy to see Postecoglou leave. After all, they had finished 17th in the Premier League. That is not acceptable for a club of that size.
That being said, one cannot deny how well Postecoglou did to win them a trophy, something that serial winners like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte could not do. And with a full squad, one has to wonder what else he can achieve.
Unfortunately, it looks like Postecoglou is not going to be given the chance to show that. If this is the end for him at Tottenham Hotspur, he can at least leave with his head held high, having delivered on his promise and become one of the most popular managers in the game in the process. The Australian should not have a tough time finding his next job. Celtic fans will always wish him well.
