It is pretty much an open secret that the Rangers will appoint a new manager in the summer, replacing Barry Ferguson, to try and catch up with Celtic. Of course, the Ibrox club have made plenty of changes in the dugout in recent years but that has not been enough to even get near the Hoops, who have failed to win the league once in the past 14 seasons and are closing in on their sixth treble in nine years.

Ferguson has done a decent enough job since being appointed interim head coach. But it is unlikely that he will be handed the job on a permanent basis. He simply does not have the credentials to compete with someone like Brendan Rodgers over the course of a full season, not the odd game here and there.

So, who will be the next Rangers manager? Well, allegedly, a leaked email is doing the rounds on social media and it has named Steven Gerrard, Marco Rose and Julen Lopetegui as their three top-tier candidates.

The general consensus seems to be that it is a fake email. And even if it is genuine, it is safe to say that Celtic fans won't be afraid of any of those three names.

Of course, whether real or fake, there were some fascinating reactions on the internet for sure. One Rangers fan wrote: "The Lopetegui would be an odd one for someone to make up. Some effort if its a fake."

Another Rangers fan ended up questioning: "Who on the board would leak that?"

It remains to be seen how accurate that list is. Even if the email turns out to be fake, which is likely to happen, there is still a good chance that the Rangers are looking at at least a couple of those managers. They have been linked with the Ibrox job for quite some time now, that is for sure.
