There are some whispers that Celtic are interested in a Premier League goalkeeper, with the search ongoing for a new number one.
The Hoops have a clear gap between the sticks after losing Kasper Schmeichel to retirement. Viljami Sinisalo has started the season as the number one, and he also filled in regularly last season, but Martin O'Neill is said to want a new number one.
Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkas has been heavily linked but it now looks as though he might be going elsewhere, leaving Celtic short.
Whispers of Celtic showing interest in Pope
There are no credible rumours at this stage, but there are plenty of whispers on social media, especially from Newcastle United pages, that Celtic are showing interest in Nick Pope.
The 34-year-old has been replaced as the number one at St James' Park having been a rather reliable keeper for much of his time at the club. But while he still has plenty to give at 34 years of age, he is not seen as a top keeper who can be the guy as Newcastle look to get back to contending for the top six in the Premier League.
Pope is in the final year of his contract having added a year onto his deal, and it's likely he will be available for a pretty cheap fee, given his age and contract length.
Celtic have relied on experienced keepers in recent years, signing Schmeichel and Joe Hart, and Pope could become the latest player to join that trend, albeit he is a little younger.
Celtic fans joke over shirt sales
The buzz over Pope on social media has included plenty of jokes over how Celtic can look forward to record shirt sales if Pope signs. There is a prospect of fans being able to get 'Pope' and the number 1 on the back of a Celtic shirt, and that will please the many who are catholic.
But if Celtic do make the move, it certainly won't be for commercial or PR reasons. Pope is a very good goalkeeper, and of some of the free agents or experienced keepers to have been linked this season, he is surely the best.
But to reiterate, the links are not particularly credible at this stage, and so it remains to be seen whether Celtic are indeed interested, and whether there have or will be any talks with the Newcastle's star.
