There have been plenty of twists and turns in the Celtic managerial race already, even though it has never looked like the club have been close to making an appointment. They have been linked with a variety of managers from all over the globe though, and now, it looks like a frontrunner has finally emerged. And it is a name that might not impress a large section of the support.

For a long while, it had looked like Kjetil Knutsen was leading the race to be the next Celtic manager. But now, it appears that a manager from the MLS has edged ahead of him out of nowhere.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Wilfried Nancy is the new frontrunner to become Celtic manager. His strongest rival for the position is Knutsen.

He is believed to be highly regarded by Paul Tisdale. Nancy’s No 2 Kwame Ampadu worked with the Celtic man at Exeter City.

Now, do not get us wrong, Nancy does seem to be a pretty good manager. That being said, he is not someone who is a big name in European football.

In fact, most Celtic fans would not have heard about Nancy before he was being linked with the club in recent weeks. So, that is not the kind of appointment that will impress the supporters. On the other hand, they are more aware of the achievements of someone like Knutsen, even though he has not done it at a top club in Europe.

It remains to be seen where this entire thing is headed. There have been plenty of twists and turns already though. So, do not be surprised if there are still a few more on the horizon before this ends.
