Celtic fans will love Connor Goldson's comments about Rangers
It would be safe to say that the Rangers are in a bad spot right now. They find themselves nine points adrift of not only Celtic, but also Aberdeen, in the Premiership. Philippe Clement's side have made it to the Scottish League Cup final but considering their recent record against the Hoops, one would think that they would be the underdogs on the day.
Amid all this, there are heavy question marks surrounding James Tavernier's future at the club. He was expected to leave Ibrox in the summer but a move did not materialise.
It does seem that a lot of Ibrox fans no longer want to see Tavernier be the starter at right-back. That is not the kind of ending that their Hall of Fame captain would have expected from the twilight of his Rangers career.
Connor Goldson gave the example of Celtic and their handling of players like Callum McGregor and Scott Brown when talking about the situation of his former Rangers teammate. As reported by the Daily Record, he said in an exclusive interview with Mailsport:
"If you let another one go in Tav, I just don’t know who in there lets people know what Rangers is all about.
“I don’t see Celtic getting rid of Callum McGregor or Scott Brown before him when they have a bad few months. They understand these boys know the culture and drive the new signings to who they become. It will only be when Tav leaves that he gets the respect he deserves."

Well, one has to also take into consideration the fact that the likes of McGregor and Brown have enjoyed consistent success at Celtic. So, there has always been a slight room for error for them.
On the other hand, Tavernier has had very little success at Rangers. Their only major success has been a league title that was won behind closed doors. And yes, reaching the Europa League final has to count as well. Other than that, there has not been a lot of significant things to cheer about for the Ibrox supporters.
Add to that the fact that Tavernier has struggled defensively for a long time. He does provide impressive numbers going forward but is also involved in mistakes at the back on a consistent basis, especially in big games. So, one can understand why some Rangers might want a fresh start with the Englishman no longer a key part of the club's first-team plans.
