There has been a decent bit of optimism amongst Celtic fans this summer as they have seen the club show urgency in the transfer market for the first time since Ange Postecoglou's departure. Pre-season training has now kicked off as well and we will get the chance to get a look at the new arrivals soon.

Unfortunately, there is some bad news for Celtic as well. It looks like they have their first injury concern of the campaign already and pre-season has barely started.

As reported by the Daily Record, Carter-Vickers is back at Lennoxtown but he has still to train with the rest of Brendan Rodgers’ first-team. There have even been suggestions that he has had an operation over the summer. But as things stand, that remains unconfirmed.

Of course, Carter-Vickers has had his fair share of injury problems over the past couple of years. So, it would come as no surprise if he did indeed undergo an operation over the summer. The real question is, how long will it keep him out of action? That is what will worry a lot of fans.

There is no doubt that the American is the leader at the back for Celtic. He is the only nailed-on starter in central defence.

Since the departure of Carl Starfelt a couple of seasons back, the club have failed to bring in a defender who can partner Carter-Vickers at the back. They have tried plenty of times, with the latest being the addition of Auston Trusty from Sheffield United, and will probably do so again this summer.

In fact, it looks like they are on the verge of signing another centre-back. Hayato Inamura is believed to be close to completing a move to Celtic. Does he have what it takes to be a regular starter for Celtic? We shall see.
