During Brendan Rodgers' first stint at Celtic, quite a few players left Manchester City for Parkhead and did a great job as well. Unfortunately, this time around, that pathway does not seem to exist. One can only hope that it is revisited, as Man City's have been producing some of the best talents in world football right now.
In an unexpected turn of events, it looks like a Celtic fan favourite is now set to end up at Manchester City. It is in a coaching capacity though.
Kolo Toure was not only a player but also a coach for Celtic during Rodgers' first stint at Parkhead. As reported by Jack Guaghan, he is set to join Manchester City's coaching staff for the Club World Cup.
Of course, it is worth mentioning that Toure's coaching career has taken a reroute. He had coaching stints at Celtic and Leicester City and it looked like he was ready for the next step. He was handed the Wigan Athletic job but ended up having a terrible time. Now, it looks like he has taken a step back.
Celtic fan favourite ready to join Manchester City
Working with Pep Guardiola could be a great step for Toure and help his coaching career in the long run. Let's see how things go for him as part of Manchester City's backroom staff.
Of course, it is worth pointing out that Toure played for Manchester City as well. He was part of their iconic Premier League-winning team, which culminated with Sergio Aguero's unforgettable goal on the last day of the campaign.
We can only wish Toure the best of luck. His time at Celtic was not long. He spent only a season before retiring and then moved into a coaching role. But he is a lovable characater and was a fan favourite.
