Celtic are expected to have a busy summer transfer window. They have already looked plenty of times towards familiar faces in recent years. Kieran Tierney will be making his return to Parkhead very soon, when his contract at Arsenal runs out at the end of the campaign. And it might not be the last return that takes place.
There are other areas where Celtic could look to strengthen. One of them might be goalkeeper, especially if one of them leaves in the summer.
As reported by The Herald, Celtic are considering a move for Ross Doohan. Scott Bain could go in search of first-team football after the Scottish Cup final and the Aberdeen goalie features on a list of potential replacements.
Doohan came through the ranks at Celtic and spent several seasons with the Hoops. But the 27-year-old was never able to make his mark at Parkhead and eventually had to end up leaving in search of first-team football, as has been the case for so many before and after him.
Celtic eyeing unexpected offer to sign 27-year-old
Doohan has made 18 appearances across all competitions for Aberdeen this season but he has not been a nailed-on starter for them over his two years with the Dons. In the summer, his current deal with the club will run out, meaning he is set to be available as a free agent.
Will Doohan be open to the idea of returning to Celtic as the third-choice goalkeeper though? With Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo ahead of him in the pecking order, there would be very little realistic chance of him getting first-team football at Parkhead.
Doohan is just 27 years of age and should have plenty of football left in the tank. Thus, it might not be the right step for him to move to a club where he will not get much playing time, if at all.
