Over the years, we have seen Celtic miss out on a number of players who they wanted to see, and perhaps could have, if they had pushed a bit more. This summer was no different. But it looks like one of the players they failed to bring to Parkhead could potentially be available in the winter, following his poor start to life in his new league.
In recent years, we have seen quite a few Scottish players move to Italy and make their mark in the Serie A. Some names that come to mind immediately are Scott McTominay, the best in the Italian top flight right now, as well as the likes of Billy Gilmour, Aaron Hickey, Lewis Ferguson and more.
So, it made sense when Lennon Miller tried to follow that same path and joined Udinese. Unfortunately for him, it has not worked out as well as he would have hoped.
Miller has endured a tough start to life at Udinese. In fact, as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the club's manager Kosta Runjaic recently said:
"Lennon played a lot of football last season. So I wanted to test him against Juventus because they are a great team.
“He could have done better – he lost a lot of balls and that shows to me he needs time to be 100 per cent ready here."
Celtic eyeing move for Scottish international in January
This might open up a window of opportunity for Celtic to swoop in and sign Miller in January. Will Udinese give up on the Scottish international so soon after signing him though?
According to the same report, Celtic are monitoring Miller’s situation at Udinese ahead of a possible move in January. Graeme Bailey has told the outlet that the Hoops could revive their interest in the player and sign him in the winter.
It remains to be seen if it plays out that or not. It would not come as a surprise if Miller seeks a move away if things do not improve though. It has clearly not been the start to life in the Serie A that he would have hoped for.
