Well, Celtic are a club that is constantly linked with players. More often than not, they do not end up happening though and go down as mere speculation. But on some occasions, even the unthinkable happens. For example, at one point, nobody could have predicted that Kieran Tierney would return to the club at just 28 years of age. So, never count anything out.
Of course, Tierney is not the only left-back who has been linked with a return to Celtic over the years. Andy Robertson is another one.
Robertson was part of the youth ranks at Celtic but was allowed to leave. He has gone on to establish himself as an absolute legend of the game over his time in England though, spent largely winning trophies with Liverpool.
But it looks like Liverpool have now started to move in a different direction. Robertson has been left on the bench as an unused substitute in five of their eight Premier League games this season and has not started even one of them. Could that open up the window of opportunity for Celtic to make their move?
Celtic express interest in blockbuster move for Liverpool player in January
As reported by Sports Boom, Celtic have expressed an interest in signing Robertson. The Hoops hope to secure a deal in January for the seasoned Scotland international, who is out of contract next summer.
Considering his reduced role in the team, it is hard to imagine that Robertson will be offered a new contract. And even if he is, will the Scotsman sign one under these circumstances?
That being said, what are the chances that Celtic end up signing Robertson the summer after bringing back Tierney? They are pretty slim if you ask us, unless one of them is ready to become a centre-back moving forward.
