Celtic do need to sign wing-backs this summer if they want to unlock the full potential of Wilfried Nancy's system. The French manager simply does not have the right personnel in that area of the pitch right now. As a result, he has had to use the likes of Yang Hyun-jun, Sebastian Tounekti, Luke McCowan and more to fill in the gaps on the roster. At some point, the Hoops will need to bring in a few specialists.
Lately, we have seen Celtic being linked with plenty of wing-backs. One of them is on the books of AS Roma and a full Moroccan international, currently on loan at PSV.
PSV are believed to hold a buy clause in the loan deal. But the player in question has not committed his future to the Dutch club yet. If he has second thoughts, other clubs could try to swoop in and win the race for his signature.
As reported by the Glasgow Times, Celtic may make a move for Anass Salah-Eddine if a permanent deal with PSV fails to materialise. Nottingham Forest, Porto, Sevilla and Werder Bremen are also keen on the Moroccan international.
Celtic could sign international wing-back but on one condition
Of course, there is a possibility that Salah-Eddine might want to continue at PSV, and the Dutch club would want the same. In that scenario, there would be no real opportunity for Celtic to get something done.
But if that is not the case, then the window of opportunity might open up for Celtic. Let's see how things play out in that regard.
At the same time, there are other options that Celtic should be keeping their eyes on. Their chances of signing Salah-Eddine are slim, to be very honest. They cannot put all their eggs in this basket.
