There is still a lot to play for Celtic this season. While the League Cup and Premiership might already be won, the aim for a club like this is to win every game possible, no matter what the points table looks like. Then there is the upcoming Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, which will hand the Hoops the chance to clinch their ninth treble overall and sixth in nine seasons.
After that, the focus will shift towards the summer transfer window and preparations for next season. This never-stop attitude might seem absurd to many but it is how Celtic have continuously won silverware over the years.
Next season's pre-season will also be important as the Hoops are expected to make quite a few signings. That period will help Brendan Rodgers integrate them into the team and his system of football.
We already know the identity of one opposition they will be taking on this summer. As reported by the club's official website, Celtic will host Newcastle United on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Parkhead.
Celtic confirm rumour by making official announcement
One major factor around this game has to be the presence of Eddie Howe. The Newcastle United manager has quite the history with Celtic.
Howe was expected to become the manager of Celtic in the summer of 2021. The Hoops were in a bad position at that point and needed someone to get them back on track after a trophyless campaign.
Howe was viewed as the right man for the job and from what we have seen at Newcastle United, he might very well have been. But he chose to turn the opportunity down at the last minute. Naturally, Celtic fans were not too happy with it but in the end, it worked out fine as Ange Postecoglou was brought in instead.
