Celtic have confirmed another exit following the departure of Daizen Maeda to Ipswich Town recently. The Bhoys have plenty of incomings to take care of, with glaring holes remaining in their squad with just four weeks remaining in the summer transfer window.
But further exits will take place, and there has now been another in the form of Paulo Bernardo, who struggled for game time last season. Bernardo made just eight Premiership appearances, and at 24 years of age, he will want to play regularly.
Bernardo joins Polish club
In a bid to find regular football, Bernardo has joined Polish club Gornik Zabrze, who finished second in the Polish top flight last season. Bernardo joins on a season-long loan initially, but there is an option to buy built into the deal, so Celtic may well have seen the last of the midfielder.
Bernardo has been with Celtic since 2023, and he has racked up 64 appearances across all competitions, but as mentioned, he found game time hard to come by last season.
Brendan Rodgers once said of the midfielder: "Paulo made a great impact for us at some real pivotal moments, delivering for us when he needed to for the team and we are sure that he can bring that same determination, ability and quality to us over the next number of years.
"He has been a popular figure in the dressing room and I know the rest of the players will welcome him back warmly."
Bernardo's love for Celtic
Meanwhile, Bernardo has said of Celtic after joining permanently on the back of his loan: "I love the club, I love the fans, and I love the city, too, so it's very, very nice to be here again. I love the atmosphere at Celtic Park and away in all the games. Celtic is a big, big club."
"The fans feed us in the game so we can score one more goal or win the game in the last minute." They show that they love the club and I think they really like me too, so I love them."
The Portuguese star now moves on to pastures new, and he will go with the best wishes of everyone at the club.
