Coming into deadline day, Celtic had a lot of work to do. Of course, the club managed to leave things down to the last minute. That would have been unsurprising to most who have followed the Hoops for any substantial length of time. Bringing in another striker and a left-back was viewed as being top of the wishlist. Now, they look set to sign someone who can remarkably fill both roles.

Yes, that is not something that you hear often. A player who can play as a striker as well as a left-back. Well, Celtic have managed to find themselves someone with that level of versatility in their hour of need.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have made a loan offer for Crystal Palace utility player Jeffrey Schlupp. It’s understood a deal is close to being agreed by the clubs.

Most people will view this as a move from Celtic when they had run out of all other options. One has to remember that they were linked with plenty of strikers in recent days. On the other hand, there was also the possibility of Kieran Tierney arriving on loan but that was eventually ruled out late in the window.

It is worth pointing out though that this is not the first time Celtic have been linked with Schulpp. So, this might not be a move that came together in the final moments of the winter window.

Perhaps Celtic have had their eyes on the Crystal Palace for a while and the perfect opportunity presented itself on deadline day. If that is the case, one can only hope that it works out.

Schulpp has barely played for the Eagles in recent times. Let's see if the 32-year-old's game time increases in Glasgow.
