Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers is still eyeing improvements despite the Bhoys maintaining their 100% Premiership record through a tough away clash with St Mirren.
The Hoops went behind against a Buddies side that had picked up 10 points from their first four games, but Celtic maintained their faultless league record thanks to goals from Liam Scales and Yang Hyun-jun, and they also had two goals narrowly disallowed.
Martin O'Neill has a front line that is looking very difficult to stop, and the defence has done its part, too, but it is true there is still room for improvement on that front, albeit Alistair Johnston is out until October and Kieran Tierney has been absent for a couple of weeks through injury, which makes things more difficult.
“I think in general we can control games better. Most of their chances probably came after 70, 75 minutes," said Celtic star Carter-Vickers, who has arguably been the team's best defender so far this season.
“We started going a bit longer and we were giving them the ball back, the game was a bit more open and end to end, which didn’t really suit us. That’s definitely something we can improve.”
Speaking about the result itself, Carter-Vickers said: “I don’t think I’ve ever had an easy or simple game at St Mirren.
“Pretty much whenever you go away from home you always expect it to be tough. In my six years here, I can’t remember an easy one against St Mirren. It was tough again, so it was great to get the three points. In the first-half, I thought we actually played fairly well, minus the handball and penalty.
“They didn’t create that many chances and we created a fair few ourselves. But it was tough in the end and I was glad to win it.”

To Carter-Vickers' credit, he has been excellent so far this season. His strength at the back has been key in some physical games, and both he and Auston Trusty haven't had things easy.
The Celtic midfield has settled a little now, but early in the season, it was exposed too often, especially in that European second leg, and it led to the back line coming under significant pressure.
For the most part, the centre-backs held their own, and even when you look at that disastrous second leg against LASK, only one goal came from inside the box, and that was because Sebastian Tounekti switched off and didn't follow his man to a rebound. The other four goals were because the midfield didn't do its job and allowed players time and space to produce accurate shots from outside the box.
