Signed in the summer from Sheffield United, Auston Trusty made an unsteady start at Celtic but has grown into a starter in Brendan Rodgers' side since then, partnering Cameron Carter-Vickers in the heart of defence. So, it is safe to say that the fans want their starting centre-back to always be available but unfortunately, he picked up an injury in the game against St Mirren.
Trusty was forced off the pitch in the first half itself due to a head knock. Liam Scales was brought on as his replacement.
Now, Scales played a ton of regular first-team football last season. That has not been the case this time around though. Naturally, he looked a bit rusty and did not put in a fantastic performance by any stretch of the imagination.
On the other hand, there is an update on the situation of Trusty. As reported by The Celtic Way, when asked about the situation of the defender after the game, Rodgers said:
"He had five stitches, so he'll be okay."
Celtic: Brendan Rodgers drops Auston Trusty injury update
Of course, that is not an entirety positive update by any means. But it is good to hear that Trusty will be fine. That is the most important thing.
It remains to be seen whether he needs to take any time off or not as a result of this injury. Celtic are in a position where they can do without him for a few games if the situation does call for it. So, there is no need to rush him back into the game.
It might be a decent opportunity to give Scales a few starting minutes as well and let him rediscover some of his form. That would put Celtic in a safe position heading towards the business end of the campaign, just in case there is any injury.
