It was the worst Celtic performance in recent memory, and that is counting the one away in Dortmund earlier this season. The Hoops, who have completely dominated the Glasgow Derby in recent years, were handed a 3-0 defeat away at Ibrox. Even after that result, the gap stands at 11 points in the league. But this should work as a wake up call for Brendan Rodgers' side. Some of their recent displays have been nowhere near the mark and there is a need for improvement for sure.

Rodgers' record in the Glasgow Derby is immense. On the other hand, Philippe Clement had not won a single one coming into this game.

Judging by the game at Ibrox, it felt like the opposite. There is no doubt that the Rangers were the better side in all departments.

One has to wonder whether complacency is starting to seep into Celtic's game. They need to turn things around as soon as possible after this result. 11 points is a huge gap but nothing should be taken for granted, even for a second.

Many Celtic fans did not agree with Rodgers' assessment of the game at Ibrox. One wrote:

"The majority of the negatives that BR mentioned all happened in the first half and they did not get addressed at HT and were allowed to continue the whole of the second half. That's not acceptable."

He was not the only one pointing out the lack of changes at the break. Another added:

"He very rarely makes changes at half time but today he should have. Surprised Hatate lasted so long on the park. There's no chance he thought that same team would make an impact second half, the changes needed made then."

At the end of the day, nobody was up to the mark on the day. The players need to be better, as do the coaching stuff.

But this undefeated run against the Rangers was bound to come to an end at some point. The good news is that it came at a point where the gap between the two was at 14 points.

The January transfer window is a good opportunity for Celtic to bring in a few players. Hopefully, that will refresh this team, just like what happened in the previous campaign with Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn.
