Brendan Rodgers named a very different-looking Celtic starting XI for the game against Dundee FC. One feels that he might have already had an eye on the upcoming Scottish League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen. As the Dons showed in their recent visit to Parkhead, by coming back from two goals down at half-time to draw 2-2 and even getting close to winning the game, they are the real deal and cannot be taken lightly.

As a result, Celtic will want to have their best team available for that game. The problem is, they have quite a few fitness worries at the moment.

Adam Idah was on the receiving end of a rough tackle towards the end of the Motherwell game. He has been in a moon boot recently. On the other hand, Callum McGregor did not play that day, or against Dundee FC.

They are two of Celtic's most important players. So, fans have been left worried about their situation going into the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen. Fortunately, there is some good news in that regard.

Celtic boss confirms Adam Idah and Callum McGregor status for semi-final

Rodgers has provided a promising update on the fitness situations of McGregor, Idah and Nicolas Kuhn leading up to the League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen. As reported by Football Scotland, the Celtic manager said to BBC Scotland:

"Adam Idah, Nicolas Kuhn and Callum McGregor will all be fine for the weekend (League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen).

"Callum could've been involved tonight but there was no need to risk it. Kuhn had a bit of an issue with his hip after the weekend, again no need to risk it. Good news on Adam with the scan, he got away with it after the challenge and hopefully he'll be ready for Saturday."

Idah has scored five goals already this season, despite mostly being used as an impact substitute for Kyogo. On the other hand, McGregor has been brilliant. Retiring from the national team seems to have given him added freedom to give it his all for Celtic, knowing he can rest during the international breaks.

Hopefully, there are no unforeseen events leading up to the Aberdeen game and all of them are available on the day. Celtic will need to bring their A-game if they are to get the better of Jim Thelin's in-form side.
