With Jota suffering a long-term injury that could keep him out of action for the remainder of 2025, there is a decent chance that Celtic will end up signing a winger in the upcoming summer transfer window. It is not just about the Portuguese ace either. Nicolas Kuhn, who has been one of the club's best performers this season, could be on his way out as well, having been linked with the likes of Newcastle United, Everton and more such teams across Europe.
That would leave Celtic light on options on the flanks. So, it should come as no surprise that the club have been linked with quite a few wingers recently.
It has been suggested that Celtic currently have their sights set on a Peterborough United winger, currently playing in the third division. And the Hoops might even have an advantage in the race to sign the Ghana international.
As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Birmingham Ciry are interested in Kwame Poku but fear they will lose out to one of Celtic or Rangers because of UEFA’s cross-border compensation scheme. The two Scottish teams are in the driving seat. They will be able to offer a more significantly attractive personal deal.
Celtic among favourites to sign Ghana international
Poku has enjoyed an excellent individual campaign even though his team have struggled. He has scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists in just 31 games.
He has also made his Ghana debut recently. And even more importantly, he is set to be available as a free agent as his contract runs out this summer.
Of course, many will claim that his success has come in the third division of the English game. Then again, the last time Celtic tried to sign someone from Peterborough United, it was none other than Ivan Toney.
