This weekend, Martin O'Neill will probably take charge of Celtic for the final time. It will be a bittersweet moment for the supporters. Of course, saying goodbye to the beloved club legend will be difficult. That being said, it is great that he ended up having a good run as interim boss and was successful in steadying the ship after Brendan Rodgers' resignation.
If everything goes according to plan, Wilfried Nancy will be the new manager of the club from next week. And he will surely have his work cut out for him.
O'Neill might have gotten a tune out of this team, but that does not mean that Nancy will be able to do the same. There have been suggestions that it takes some time for him to implement his style. And he will have some difficult fixtures in his first few weeks as Celtic manager.
Celtic have a home game against Hearts coming up soon. Then they will host AS Roma in the Europa League before playing the Scottish League Cup final against St Mirren. That's quite the run. But no matter how it goes, one should not judge Nancy as a manager until he has gotten the chance to bring in a few fresh faces in January. Celtic already exploring first signing for Wilfried Nancy
It would be a familiar face for the Frenchman. As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are exploring the possibility of signing Wessam Abou Ali in January after Nancy’s appointment gets the green light.
The striker was signed by Columbus Crew recently. He has managed to score three goals for them in five games.
He has dealt with injury problems as well though. And that might be a worrying point for Celtic before making any move.
