It is no secret that Celtic have been trying to find a striker in this winter transfer window. Kyogo left last January and was not replaced. That was followed by Adam Idah's summer exit, and once again, a replacement was not brought in. That has left the Scottish champions short of options up top. Johnny Kenny is the leading number 9 at this moment. With all due respect to the Irishman, he is not ready at this point for a role of this magnitude.
Celtic have been linked with a variety of strikers this winter, which has not come as a surprise to anybody. But now, it looks like they are closing in on one whose name had not come up even once over the last few weeks.
As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Tomas Cvancara has already agreed on personal terms with Celtic. Now it’s down to the final details between the clubs.
Cvancara is a Borussia Monchengladbach player. Of course, Celtic had been linked with other Bundesliga strikers like Andrej Ilic and Jonas Wind in recent days. So, this move has come out of the blue.
Celtic agree personal terms with Bundesliga striker
A deal is not over the line just yet. Celtic will need to agree a deal with the club as well. It is expected to be a loan one, with an option to buy included in it.
That seems to be the formula that Celtic are hoping to agree a deal for this winter. Now, it remains to be seen if the German club will be open to the idea or not.
If they are not, then it would not come as a surprise if Celtic decide to move on and try with somebody else. But it is a very good sign that an agreement has been reached on personal terms.
