Caoimhin Kelleher makes Liverpool exit decision amid Celtic links
Celtic made a bold move in the summer by bringing in Kasper Schmeichel as a free agent. With Joe Hart retiring at the end of last season, the expectation was for the Hoops to sign a long-term goalkeeper. Instead, they signed someone even older than the Englishman. So far, that has proven to be an inspired decision on their part.
Schmeichel has been fantastic in goal for Celtic and quickly established himself as a fan favourite. But that does not change the fact that is 38 years old and sooner or later, the club will need to search for a goalkeeper once again.
Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool is someone they have been linked with for more than a year now. Nothing has materialised so far. But could a move in the future be on the cards.
The Irishman appears to be eyeing the Anfield exit door. As reported by Football Insider, Kelleher wants to leave Liverpool in search of first-team football in next summer’s transfer window.

Of course, it would take a significant transfer fee to sign Kelleher from Liverpool. So, it remains to be seen whether the Hoops will even be in the race.
As we saw from the Arne Engels transfer though, Celtic are ready to make a splash if it is a player that they believe in. And to be honest, Kelleher as close as they can get to making a signing that simply can't go wrong.
Kelleher is arguably the best back up goalkeeper in the world right now. Unfortunately, he is not expected to move ahead of Alisson Becker anytime soon in the Liverpool pecking order. So, if he wants to play first-team football, which seems to be the case, an exit might be the only route.
