Cameron Carter-Vickers has been one of Celtic's best players in recent years. The fact that that is widely recognised despite the amount of time the American centre-back has spent out injured just goes on to show how highly he is rated by the supporters. And one can only hope that he is able to go on a good run of games from here without having to deal with any fitness issues.
Celtic's performances and the presence of Carter-Vickers in the team has been closely linked. The Hoops look a lot less secure at the back whenever the American is not playing.
Just take the game against Borussia Dortmund as example. The Hoops conceded seven goals with Carter-Vickers out injured. One would think that that number would have been at least a bit lower if he had featured on that day.
Carter-Vickers does not subscribe to that idea himself though. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said of the notion that when he plays, Celtic tend to win:
"I’m comfortable with it because I know it’s not completely true."
Cameron Carter-Vickers says Celtic notion is not true
It is good to see that Carter-Vickers is still very modest about his role in the Celtic team. But at the same time, one cannot overlook the evidence that speaks in his favour.
Carter-Vickers has spent more than three seasons at Celtic and played over a 100 games. During that period of time, he has lost only four domestic matches. An exceptional figure to say the very least.
Celtic have a ton of great players all over the pitch. But there is no denying that Carter-Vickers is very important to this team. When he plays, the Hoops look like a much better team, that is true from a fan perspective for sure. And hopefully, he will remain injury-free for the foreseeable future and play consistent football this season.
