The Celtic players will already be closely focused on Saturday’s visit to Easter Road. Hibernian have turned around a poor start to the season and will be tough opposition for Brendan Rodgers's side. Especially after the Hoops' heartbreak of that midweek draw against Bayern Munich away at the Allianz Arena.

Doesn’t it sound strange to call a draw away in Munich against one of the top clubs in the world a heartbreak? But that’s how it worked out, given the tremendous performance in the second leg of the Champions League playoff tie.

While the players are looking ahead and getting back to Premiership business with their preparations, it’s hard to resist looking back at that draw again. It might be like that for a while.

One of the big what-if moments on the night came just before Bayern Munich scored that late goal. Daizen Maeda fell to the ground as he took an arm to his face chasing down another loose ball. Now, even Scottish referees are usually quick to call a halt to check the player when a potential head injury is at play. But French referee Benoit Bastien let play continue and it ultimately led to Celtic's exit.

That left Celtic fans gasping at what seemed an injustice in more ways than one. Brendan Rodgers did not sound happy about the incident in the aftermath of the game.

Now, club captain Callum McGregor has given his take on the matter. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic midfielder said to Premier Sports:

"It can be a factor but we don't really want to use things like that as an excuse. We go right through the game and there are some things that could be different. It's a real sore one but I think we can be proud of ourselves.

"There has been a lot of belief, growth and confidence in the team (during the campaign). So we have to bank that and continue on it as I think anyone watching tonight could see a good Celtic team."

That sums up the incident with Maeda and the match well. A draw, which came very close to a win, away in Munich is still an incredible result. It wasn't enough on the night when combined with the 1-2 loss at Celtic Park in the first leg. Now, it’s back to domestic competitions and that trip to play Hibs on Saturday.
