Celtic recently have signed one player from the Bundesliga, bringing in Tomas Cvancara on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach. The Hoops badly needed to sign a striker in this winter window, and they have done that. He is expected to feature in the game against Hearts at the weekend. Let's hope that he makes the kind of impact that the fans are hoping for.

There are other positions in need of strengthening as well. One of them is centre-back. The defence does not have the right balance at this point in time.

Auston Trusty has been a standout performer in recent games. Liam Scales is a starter under Martin O'Neill as well. But both of them are left-footed. Another right-footed centre-back would give this defence another option and a structural balance to build from the back in the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who might not feature again this season.

One defender Celtic have been linked with in recent weeks is Aurele Amenda of Eintracht Frankfurt. And their chances of signing him have been handed a boost.

As reported by Estadio Deportivo, Amenda is pushing Eintracht Frankfurt for a loan move in search of playing time. Celtic, Mainz, Nice, Lorient, and Torino are all interested in him.

Amenda has not been making regular starts for Eintracht Frankfurt this season, even though he has been involved off the bench. It is very clear that the Swiss international centre-back is looking for more. And that might open up the chance for Celtic to swoop in and sign him up.

Celtic have shown a reluctance to sign players on a permanent basis in this window, which is somewhat understandable considering O'Neill is going to be leaving at the end of the season. So, a loan move for Amenda would make perfect sense.
