The summer transfer window is like a game of dominoes. Something that happens nowhere near Parkhead might end up having a positive or negative effect on Celtic. The Hoops have made a fast start to their business this time around, showing an urgency that has been missing since the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

Things elsewhere seem to be going their way as well. Jeremie Frimpong's move to Liverpool handed them a significant windfall. And another one might not be far away, although the sell-on fee might be a lot lower on this occasion.

Matt O'Riley is being linked with a move to Italy, less than a year after joining Brighton & Hove Albion. Napoli are believed to have put in a €30 million offer while AS Roma are said to be keen on a move as well. As reported by the Daily Record, the Seagulls are demanding a £30 million fee for the Danish international.

Celtic are believed to hold a 10% sell-on clause, with O'Riley joining the Seagulls in a £25 million move last summer. So, that would mean a £500,000 windfall for the Hoops, if the Dane did make a £30 million exit.

Brighton & Hove Albion are not the type of club that gives up on a player after just one underwhelming season. Also, O'Riley had gotten into the starting lineup towards the end of the 24/25 campaign and put in some promising performances.

There might be more factors at play though. There is a belief that O'Riley is not completely happy with his role in the tactical setup at Brighton.

On the other hand, Gian Piero Gasperini is the new manager of AS Roma. He was at Atalanta when they made multiple offers for O'Riley last summer but were not able to agree a deal with Celtic.

Clearly, Gasperini rates O'Riley very highly and is known for his ability to get the best out of players, having overdelivered at Atalanta for close to a decade. Some rumours have suggested that the Danish midfielder is keen on a move to AS Roma.

On the other hand, Napoli have Antonio Conte in their dugout. There is not much that needs to be said about him. The Italian wins Scudettos for fun. So, working with him might be an attractive prospect for any player.

Wherever O'Riley ends up, Celtic will be hoping that it comes with a sell-on windfall. But at the same time, we will be wishing our club hero the best as well.
