Nicolas Kuhn is the talk of the town at the moment following his spectacular start to the season. The German winger has 21 goal contributions in 17 appearances and quickly established himself as Celtic's talisman following the departure of Matt O'Riley. It is safe to say that not many would have seen this coming on the back of his unremarkable displays in the second half of the previous campaign, after joining from Rapid Vienna.
Not only is Kuhn delivering, but he is doing so on the big stage as well. He scored a brace against RB Leipzig to help Celtic to a 3-1 win in the Champions League.
Of course, those performances have caught the eye of teams down south. Brentford are one of the clubs to be linked with a move for Kuhn. It has also been claimed that Celtic would look for at least a €30 million transfer fee to consider parting ways with the German winger, significantly higher than the £3 million figure they are believed to have signed him for.
As reported by The Standard, Brentford hold interest in Kuhn and Patrik Kovacs. But they have no plans to sign them in January. The Premier League club have sent scouts to watch both players in action but are not in talks to bring in either.
Brentford stance on €30 million move for Celtic's Nicolas Kuhn
To be honest, it feels unlikely that Celtic would be open to parting with Kuhn in the middle of the season. Just look at how they handled the O'Riley exit.
Of course, next summer could prove to be a different story. But with Kuhn having a long-term contract, Celtic are in a strong position.
If Kuhn continues to perform at the Champions League level, his transfer fee should only go upwards. Let's see how things go.
