There has been some speculation around the future of Brendan Rodgers in recent years. Rumours suggesting that he is not happy with the direction of Celtic cropped up following the manager's comments after their defeat at the hands of bottom-placed St Johnstone. As a result, many wondered whether he could do the unthinkable and leave the club in the summer.

Rodgers is only 52 years of age and is a proven Premier League success. If he did choose to leave, there would not be any lack of interest in his signature, especially down south.

In the past, Rodgers has talked about wanting to at least see out his three-year contract with Celtic though. And in his mind, that is still the plan.

Rodgers has confirmed that he will leave this summer only on one condition. That is if he is told to by Dermot Desmond. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said:

"For any avoidance of doubt, because I was surprised when I got asked the question, I think if you were sat in my press conference here on the very first day I arrived, I promised unless I was removed I'd be here for three years minimum.

“So nothing changes.

“There's absolutely no doubt, unless Dermot tells me differently in the summer, I will be excited and ready for the beginning of the season."

That will be music to the ears of Celtic fans. There is very little chance that Desmond will want to see Rodgers leave the club this summer. At least, that sounds like the managerial situation is sorted.

This summer could be one of change for the squad though. The likes of Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and plenty of others have been linked with moves away from Parkhead. And there have been whispers that Rodgers could be open to the idea of an overhaul as well, having seen his side struggled to deliver in recent weeks.

It remains to be seen how things play out for Celtic between now and the end of the season. But do expect Rodgers to be the one in the Parkhead hot seat come next season. That's a major relief.
