Normally, a goalless draw would be a bad result for Celtic. But when it comes to getting a hard-earned point against the UEFA Europa League holders, Atalanta, away in Italy, it certainly has to be considered a good outcome. After the Hoops conceded seven goals against Borussia Dortmund, many fans and critics called for a more pragmatic approach at the Champions League level. And that is exactly what we got this time around.

Atalanta had a few chances but could not take them. On the other hand, Celtic were resolute at the back and looked determined to get something out of this game from the get-go.

Kasper Schmeichel, the defence and the entire team deserve a ton of credit for keeping a clean sheet against Atalanta. This result could go a long way in Celtic's quest to make it to the next phase of the Champions League.

Rodgers had faced heavy criticism following Celtic's loss to Borussia Dortmund. After the result against Atalanta, the Northern Irish manager said to the media:

"I'm not sure whether that was pragmatic enough for people tonight, I don't know. We go out in every game to be structure and defend well, you know you don't want to get pushed back. I think the confidence it gives you when you can defend against the very best teams, that level and that concentration, then it will give them a huge boost."

Admittedly, we were among those who had called for a more pragmatic approach after the one-sided defeat against Borussia Dortmund. And tonight, it was certainly one of Celtic's best away results in the Champions League in recent memory.

The draw puts them in a solid position. This is one point that can be considered a bit of a bonus as most had expected Celtic to lose against Atalanta away in Italy.

Now, Celtic just need to win the games that are considered 'winnable' for them and hopefully, the rest will take care of itself. The difference in mood after the game against Borussia Dortmund and this one is clear to see. It just goes to show that even a draw can bring positivity, under the right circumstances.
