Celtic's recruitment has been shaky in recent years, with the exception of the incredible 2021/22 season. Some of the additions they have made have worked out. On the other hand, there are those who have not at all and have left fans scratching their heads as to why they were brought in in the first place.

When Brendan Rodgers returned for a second spell as Celtic manager in 2023, it was believed that the aim was to take the next step in Europe. Instead, the club focused on making 'project signings' that summer, most of which did not work out.

One such addition was Marco Tilio. He was compared to Phil Foden in Australia for his style of play. But things just did not work out for him at Celtic Park.

Tilio was not involved early on due to an injury and then never found his place in Rodgers' team. He made only a couple of appearances. Soon, the Australian left Celtic on loan to return to Melbourne City FC, where he currently finds himself.

Tilio recently scored the winner in Melbourne City FC's season opener. And he now seems to be aiming to play regular football.

Tilio has also ruled out another Celtic exit on loan in the future, to play somewhere else in Europe. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the winger said:

"I just want to play consistent games, do really well and put myself in a really good position to either return to Scotland or go on loan elsewhere in Europe."

Let's see how Tilio's time at Melbourne City FC goes from here. If he does well, it could open up a lot of doors in the future, whether it be at Celtic or somewhere else.

Celtic do have a fantastic winger on the right flank right now in the form of Nicolas Kuhn. The German is enjoying a brilliant start to the season and has exceeded all expectations that were set for him coming into the campaign.
