Celtic are flying at the moment, as they come off a 3-1 win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League. That victory should give the Hoops a ton of confidence and hopefully, they will continue building on the momentum that they have built up. In order to do that, they must make sure that they keep together this squad until at least the end of the season.
One player whose future at Celtic Park has come under question recently is Alex Valle. The left-back is currently on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona.
Valle has done well in the chances that he has been given so far and looks like someone who can genuinely challenge Greg Taylor for the starting spot. But rumours in Spain have suggested that FC Barcelona could try to bring him back to Camp Nou in January by cutting short his loan deal with Celtic.
Of course, that would not be ideal in any way. And fortunately, Brendan Rodgers seems to have shut down the rumour immediately. As reported by Glasgow World, the Celtic manager told Sky Sports regarding the possibility of Valle's loan deal being cut short:
"Not that I am aware of, no and nobody has told me any different. I suppose we are getting to the stage that rumours and gossip and everything kicks in leading into January. But I know Alex has really, really enjoyed his time here both on and off the pitch.
“He’s obviously a very important player for us so we wouldn’t want to lose him. And I think the experiences he is getting here both in the Champions League and domestic football. I think he’s really enjoying his time here."
Brendan Rodgers shuts down worrying Celtic rumour
Valle staying on at Celtic would be the best step for the club at this point in time. He has proven himself as a very capable left-back for the Hoops.
Of course, there are the links regarding a possible move for Kieran Tierney as well. It remains to be seen how they play out. Celtic have been linked with the Arsenal man on numerous occasions in the past as well but it has not worked out any of those times.
Will Celtic be successful in signing Valle on a permanent basis in the future from FC Barcelona? To be very honest, that does feel a bit unlikely but never say never when it comes to football.
