Celtic are closing in on another treble. They will face Aberdeen in the final of the Scottish Cup and if successful, it will be their sixth domestic sweep in nine seasons. Quite the run, no matter what anyone says about the quality of Scottish football. And despite this success, it looks like the Hoops have their eyes on further reinforcements.

Celtic have struggled against the Rangers in recent times and are winless against them in their last three meetings. Even the Scottish League Cup was won on penalties.

So, that is definitely an area where the Hoops needs to improve. The results might not have had an effect this season, but that won't be the story every time. On the other hand, more quality is needed if they want to continue improving in Europe.

Of course, keeping the core of the squad will be important. If they can do that, then Celtic could be looking to make two or three quality additions over the summer. At least that is what Rodgers' recent comments suggest.

As reported by STV News, Rodgers said:

"If I could say that everyone here now was going to stay, then I’d say we would only need around two or three players of high quality coming in to improve on that."

Of course, bringing in top-quality players is always tricky for a club like Celtic due to their budget limitations and the constantly growing transfer fees. It remains to be seen how things play out this summer.

Celtic have been linked with quite a few players and one would imagine that more opportunities will crop up along the way. Then again, it is hard to imagine that they will be able to keep their entire squad together.

Key players like Nicolas Kuhn, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and more are being linked with moves away already. It is very possible that one or more of them leaves this summer. So, Celtic will need to adjust, depending upon the situation.
