Celtic have been very inconsistent in recent months. It is only because of the Rangers' troubles that they have not had to pay the price for their shortcomings since the turn of the year. The Hoops have lost both Glasgow Derbies so far in 2025 and have dropped plenty more points along the way. The latest of those came away at McDiarmid Park against a St Johnstone team that is bottom of the Premiership table right now.
Understandably, fans were not happy with the result. Neither was Brendan Rodgers, who openly called out some of his players for having gotten comfortable.
This just feels like a team that has gotten complacent. Also, it looks like the squad might have gotten a bit stagnant, having mostly stayed together for four back-to-back league triumphs. So, it might be time to change things up in the summer.
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers is set to demand the backing of the Celtic board in the summer transfer window. The Northern Irish manager is believed to be happy at Parkhead, but his position could change if the club fail to meet his demands ahead of the off-season.
Brendan Rodgers ready to make demand to Celtic board
Rodgers is someone who is constantly linked with a move down south and has a proven track record in the Premier League with teams like Liverpool and Leicester City. If he chose to leave at some point, there would not be a lack of interest in his signature.
The Hoops need to show proper ambition this summer. Especially after the Champions League campaign they had. Domestically, another treble is still on the cards.
So, there is a lot to be happy about if you are a Celtic fan. But at the same time, a need to recognise that there is work to be done.
