Brendan Rodgers is someone known to improve players. Just look at what the Celtic boss did with Matt O'Riley last season or Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn in this one. That being said, every manager is bound to get things wrong from time to time. And it looks like he was not able to judge the talent of one Parkhead flop.

Celtic went out and signed the first Argentine player in the club's history in the summer of 2022. Alexandro Bernabei was brought in from Lanus.

Bernabei failed to establish himself in the team, first under the management of Ange Postecoglou and then Rodgers. Ultimately, he was sent out on loan to SC Internacional. He had a phenomenal stint in Brazil though.

That was the perfect opportunity for Celtic to hand him a second chance. The talent was clear and there was a need at left-back with Alex Valle cutting short his loan spell and heading to Como instead. But the Hoops decided that it was time to part ways with Bernabei permanently and reached a deal with Internacional.

It looks like the Argentine is drawing the interest of La Liga giants merely months after leaving Celtic. As reported by Esportes GZH (via The Scottish Sun), Sevilla’s representatives will accompany Bernebei’s agent Juan Cruz Oller when they watch Internacional’s next league match against Juventude.

One cannot help but wonder if Bernabei should have been given more chances at Celtic. He has clearly caught the eye of many in Europe.

It is what it is though. Celtic are in a good spot themselves. Kieran Tierney will be returning in the summer when his Arsenal contract runs out. Hopefully, Greg Taylor will be signing a new deal as well and stay on at Parkhead for the future.
