Football is always based on results, especially at a club like Celtic. It is safe to say that Brendan Rodgers' decision to resign from his post was a controversial one. It would have made a lot of supporters nervous about what the future held for the Bhoys, as they were without any direction in the middle of the season.

That being said, that was the case when Rodgers was at the club as well. They had struggled to produce their best for a long while. In fact, except for a spell of a few months early last season, they had never really looked great during the Northern Irishman's second spell at Parkhead.

He was replaced by Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney. They were put in interim charge of the team until a permanent manager is found. But considering the start they have made, a lot of supporters seem open to the idea of them staying at Parkhead for a few more months.

As long as the results keep coming, that should not be a problem either. In fact, now, many fans seem to believe that Rodgers leaving was actually a positive for Celtic.

As one popular Celtic fan account wrote: "Brendan Rodgers leaving was the best thing to happen to this side. Appreciate what he done over his time at the club but something had to give & I’m glad it did."

Another wrote: "Imagine Rodgers was still here... with them down to 10 men, we'd just be passing it between CBs for the next 50mins!"

Unfortunately, some problems still remain at Celtic. One of them is their inability to make the most of their chances. Johnny Kenny had put them ahead but they could not find a second. And despite being down to ten men, it allowed the Rangers a way back into the game, which they did by equalising

It did come from a penalty decision that was controversial to say the least. But by that point, the game should have been put to bed. So, while there have been a lot of positive signs, there are areas to work on as well, which O'Neill will know very well.

Ultimately, they were able to get the job done in extra-time. Goals from Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand sealed the deal, handing Celtic a 3-1 win, and hopefully, the confidence booster they needed for their season to finally take off.
