Amid all the chaos at Celtic in recent times, one name that has become an afterthought is that of Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman was the manager of the club merely a month-and-a-half back, even though it feels like a lifetime has passed since then. The Hoops have appointed Wilfried Nancy, although it is starting to look like a major faux pas on the part of the board, with the Frenchman losing his first three games in charge, including the Scottish League Cup final.
On the other hand, Rodgers seems to be closing in on his next club, merely six weeks after leaving Celtic. And as many had predicted, it looks set to be in the Saudi Pro League.
One of the most reliable sources in the game has come up with the information. The move seems to be very close.
As reported by The Athletic, Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah are close to reaching an agreement with Rodgers to become their new head coach. The Northern Irish manager is travelling there as work continues to finalise a deal.
Brendan Rodgers close to joining new club after quitting Celtic
Well, if the move does end up happening, it would not come as a surprise to anybody. And we can only wish Rodgers the best of luck.
His last few months at Celtic might not have been the happiest of times. But since his exit, it has become abundantly clear that the issues remain at the club and it was not about the manager at all.
Even more worryingly, it looks like they have gotten their managerial appointment completely wrong. Nancy seems to be out of his depth and Celtic might be merely postponing the inevitable by keeping him in the job, even though it has just been three games.
