Brendan Rodgers' second spell at Celtic is going successfully. After a slow start, he has found his rhythm once again and is on the verge of guiding the club to another treble. The Hoops have already won the Scottish Premiership and League Cup, and are in the final of the Scottish Cup, where they will taking on Aberdeen, who are without a trophy since 2014.

Of course, that fixture will bring up a lot of memories for Celtic fans. It was Aberdeen that they defeated in the Scottish Cup final in 2017 to complete an invincible season.

One of the starters for Celtic on the day was Dedryck Boyata. He had a very successful run at the club but left under a cloud.

That all seems to be water under the bridge now. In fact, Boyata has spoken to Rodgers in recent times and has been told that he is welcome back at any time. The defender said to The Celtic Way:

"I spoke to him recently and told him that I needed to speak to him and see how he works again. He was the manager who inspired me as a player with his ideas and the work that he put into me.

"I am eternally grateful for that. You know, with Brendan, the door is always open, and he said I would be welcome back any time."

Does that include a potential return to the club as a player? Nothing should ever be ruled out, especially with Boyata available as a free agent right now.

That being said, it is not really Celtic's transfer model to bring in players who are well past their primes. Boyata is 34 years old now and has not played for Belgium at the international level since 2022.

At the same time, Celtic have made some veteran additions in recent years though, especially on free transfers. Kasper Schmeichel and Aaron Mooy are two names that come to mind immediately. Will the name of Boyata be added to that list soon?

It is more likely that it will be a visit to Lennoxtown to catch up with Rodgers. It is good to see that there are no hard feelings between the two despite how things had played out in the past.
