Celtic have been linked with quite a few players in recent times. Of course, the speculation about a Kieran Tierney return has been doing the rounds constantly. Recently, there have been rumours about the club closing in on a move for Altay Bayindir of Manchester United as well. Other than that, they are also said to hold interest in the likes of Carney Chukwuemeka, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christian Eriksen.
Of course, all of these are high-profile names. Celtic have their eyes out for youngsters as well. One of them currently plays for Manchester City.
The player we are talking about is James McAtee. This is not the first time that Celtic have been linked with the Manchester City midfielder.
Celtic are not the only club trying to sign him either. As reported by Sky Sport, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen are both vying for McAtee.
Borussia Dortmund want to sign Celtic transfer target
McAtee has not been getting a ton of playing time at Manchester City right now. As a result, he could be looking towards the exit door.
Clearly, there are no lack of options for him at the moment despite his lack of game time in Pep Guardiola's side. Other than Celtic and the two teams from the Bundesliga, there are believed to be plenty in the Premier League who would be interested in signing the Englishman.
It remains to be seen if Celtic do end up making a move for McAtee in this winter transfer window. An exit might be more likely next summer as Manchester City might not be keen to say goodbye in the middle of the season.
Let's see what the future holds for the Manchester City player. Of course, he is not the only midfielder Celtic have been linked with in recent times.
