There are a lot of players who fail to make the grade at Celtic. That is understandable. There is pressure to win every game at a club like this and not everybody is able to perform under those circumstances. There are plenty though who have failed at Parkhead but gone on to prove themselves elsewhere. And one player, who left merely months ago, could be in line to join Borussia Dortmund.

A lot has been made about the left-back situation at Celtic. Will Greg Taylor sign an extension? What does the long-term future hold for Jeffrey Schlupp? Of course, Kieran Tierney will be making his return in the summer when his Arsenal contract runs out.

One player who was part of that department just a few months back is Alex Valle. Unexpectedly, his loan spell from FC Barcelona was cut short in the middle of the season and he went on a temporary spell to Como instead.

There, he has done well, and a big summer switch could be on the cards. As reported by the Daily Record, Valle could be set for a move to Borussia Dortmund. The German club have made an enquiry to FC Barcelona about him. The Spaniard has a £5 million release clause in his contract.

Valle did contribute for Celtic. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he provided 5 assists in 19 appearances for the Hoops.

But for the most part, he was only a role player. Valle only started seven games in the league and once in the Champions League. He did not get a start in any of the games against the Rangers. So, he was firmly behind Taylor in the pecking order.

He has done a lot better since leaving Celtic though. Valle has been a regular starter in Cesc Fabregas' Como side and it is very clear that he has been impressive considering he has been able to catch the attention of a club like Borussia Dortmund.
