Where were you when Brendan Rodgers resigned as Celtic manager? It feels like most of the club's fans will readily know the answer to the question for years to come. The end of his first spell at Parkhead was controversial. But things have been taken to the next level with this one, that is for certain..
There was always a chance that Rodgers' time at Celtic could end if things did not improve quickly. But nobody could have foreseen him resigning so soon after the defeat against Hearts, which left the Hoops trailing the Edinburgh side by eight points. One would have imagined the Northern Irishman's exit to be the headline story of the day surrounding the Scottish champions. But somehow, he was outdone, and by none other than Dermot Desmond.
Of course, most have read the statement by now. We will not repeat it. In short, it pretty pointed a finger at Rodgers for things that had gone wrong at the club and questioned the narrative that the manager had set in the media.
It is the kind of statement that we rarely see in football though. And one that nobody could have seen coming. How have the fans reacted to it?
'Blame everything' - Celtic fans react to Dermot Desmond's statement
One Celtic wrote regarding the statement from Desmond: "They are trying to control the narrative and blame everything on the manager."
Well, it is safe to say that the majority of the Celtic support will not agree with what Desmond wrote in his statement after the news of Rodgers' exit was confirmed. Yes, there might be some truth to it.
Then again, there are a lot of things that do not line up. There is no way that it was Rodgers who decided to part with Adam Idah on deadline day for example, without bringing in a replacement. And the list could go on.
