Besiktas boss Vincenzo Italiano has been addressing his side's poor away form ahead of their trip to Glasgow to face Celtic on Thursday night.

Besiktas are well-placed in the Europa League having already racked up seven points, putting them in the final automatic progression spot for the Round of 16, which means they would avoid a playoff round.

Celtic, meanwhile, are without a single point and would likely require a win on Thursday night to keep their chances of progressing to the playoff round realistic.

In the league, Besiktas are fourth, but they blew a two-goal lead against Kasimpasa over the weekend following goals from danger men Leandro Trossard and Dusan Vlahovic to give them an advantage.

Besiktas ultimately lost 2-2, and that saw their disappointing away record in the league continue, making it three defeats and just one win from five games. In their Europa League games they have managed to win their only trip so far, beating Hoffenheim.

"I think if we look at the previous away matches today, we were very close to winning," Italiano said over the weekend. "We won the Fenerbahçe match. Time has passed, but we won that one. This team has the capacity to win away, but we cannot show the quality and concentration we have at home in away matches, and we are paying a very heavy price for it.

"When that happens, the opponents also play well. They scored two beautiful goals. At home we make very few mistakes, we create a lot of chances, but we cannot reach the kind of play that would be called perfect away from home. We need to find a solution, and we will. We were very close to winning, but it didn't happen. We need to solve this."

Asked about blowing the two-goal lead, he said: "Unfortunately, we gave away the match from 2-0. I think afterwards our intensity and quality dropped a little. We had 4-5 very good chances for the third goal. But unfortunately, there was a lack of concentration, the rhythm dropped.

"The team lost control there and we conceded two goals. I congratulate them, they scored two beautiful goals. We had the match at 2-0, and we gave it away. We need to fix it. We must fix our away performances and results. The match was in our hands, we gave it away from 2-0. In the upcoming away matches, we need to fix this immediately."
